Squamish Nation Kitsilano development doubles in size

Back when this proposed development called for 3,000 new units on traditional lands in the area, Larry Benge with the West Kitsilano Residents Association had questions. But the list of concerns is only growing now that there are plans to double the size of the development to 6,000 units, if the Nation’s members approve. The Squamish Nation plans to build a mix of rental and leasehold units in 11 towers on an 11.6-acre area on Squamish lands near the south end of the Burrard Bridge in Kitsilano. The development, which will house thousands of families, will generate a strong, stable income source for the First Nation and its members.
