“It makes it easy to say we will deliver this book to you right now,” he said. “In this weather, we’re delivering books every day. If it was to start pouring rain we might not be able to do same-day delivery every day, we would maybe do two or three (deliveries) a week or something.”

“It’s a really good antidote to the stress of this whole (COVID-19) situation,” said Clarke. “Because you’ve got a destination, you’re not just riding around aimlessly. It’s actually really good.”- Koch said cycling around has also reminded her of Vancouver’s physical beauty. “I rarely get out of my little neighbourhood in East Van,” said Koch. “(But) you go to the West End and it’s all in bloom right now, it’s beautiful. Kitsilano is gorgeous. Just seeing the mountains from different angles is really nice.”

The store is still open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day, but few people drop by — business is down about 60 percent in the pandemic. But Clarke says the shop is almost breaking even.
