1965: A flashy ‘landmark by the sea’ is proposed for Spanish Banks. The scheme was dreamed up by architect Gerald Hamilton, who told the committee the beacon would provide “a striking entrance” to Vancouver, akin to the Statue of Liberty in New York. FULL STORY HERE
