Arbutus Walk is a residential community within Kitsilano. Located in the area bordered by West 10th Ave and West 12th Ave between Arbutus St and Vine St. Most buildings have an address on West 12th, Salal Drive, Redbud Lane, Marstrand and Cranberry Drive.
This is a relatively new residential area in Kits – it used to be the Carling O‘Keefe Brewery lands until the mid 1990’s, when it began it’s transformation into the community you see today.
With over 1000 condo and townhome units, the area is quite dense, yet maintains a tranquility thanks to the large amount of green space and parks and the mid-rise apartment buildings. The buildings neighbour a few small parks, but the large Connaught Park sits just west of Arbutus Walk, with Kits Beach just 12 blocks north. You are only minutes by foot to restaurants, shops, schools and transportation. Lots of this space is dog and kid friendly.
Arbutus St and West Broadway (technically 9th Ave) offers most of the shops and restaurants in the area, including Gramercy Grill, bike shops, deli’s, Marketplace IGA, London Drugs, Steve Nash Fitness World Kitsilano, and more.
The schools that serve the area are: General Gordon Elementary (5 blocks west and 3 blocks north of Arbutus Walk) and Kitsilano Secondary (1 block west of Arbutus Walk on Larch Street, just beside Connaught Park). Both have French Immersion programs. Next to Kitsilano Secondary is also Kits Community Centre with a gym, programs for families, children & adults, hockey arena, soccer and football fields (often used for rubgy) and more.
