Alexander Dunn - Classical Guitar Recital - Sept 11th, 2011

Canadian virtuoso classical guitarist Alexander Dunn has performed to enthusiastic acclaim in North and South America, New Zealand, Asia, South Africa, Europe, and Russia. In solo recital, concerto, and chamber music he is consistently praised for his musicality, technique and rich sound. He has been a featured soloist with the CBC Vancouver Radio Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, and many major orchestras in Canada and the USA. He will perform 19th and 20th century works including Mertz, Stravinsky, Bracali, Regondi and Manuel Ponce. Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society annual campaign update event with special guest, canoe historian and raconteur, David Finch. Mix and mingle with other wilderness lovers at 6:30 pm. Door prizes! Includes a free screening of Headless Valley, a groundbreaking, 1957 independent film about one couple's adventure in the Nahanni River Valley. See the film, hear the stories behind the film. One couple, one canoe, one camera equals one incredible adventure. In a time before satellite phones and helicopter rescues, Calgarians Mel and Ethel Ross fought severe isolation, insect swarms and terrifying rapids during a two-month canoe expedition up the South Nahanni into the Canadian North.

Celebration of Light July 30–Aug 6

It’s the summer and time again for Vancouver’s Celebration of Light Summer event.  China was first to kick off the competition on Saturday, July 30, with a great show!  The next shows will be Spain on Aug 3rd and finally Vancouver Aug 6th.
