If you’re feeling a little cheated by the summer this year, you’re not alone. It never really felt like it got going until mid-August, and as soon as we got used to morning coffees in the garden, afternoon swims in the sea and evenings at the beach, it was the first week of September and things seemed a little greyer.

Something of an institution here in Kits, the Sunset Grill has been a go-to place since 1989. Just a block from Kits Beach, it’s a fantastic spot after an afternoon lazing by the water.
Great for: Craft beer, huge Whiskey and Scotch selection, and brunch.

Some say dive bar; some say neighbourhood pub. The Fringe Café is one of the oldest bars on West Broadway – they will be celebrating their 27th anniversary this next year.
