The Vermeer: A Boutique Collection of Residences in Kitsilano
Coming soon to Kitsilano’s West 4th Ave, is a new condo development called The Vermeer, located at 2035 West 4th Ave. Unlike typical developments, this is being built above existing retail space on the North side of 4th Ave between Arbutus and Maple (you’ve probably noticed the construction). There are many unique things about The Vermeer – one of the most notable being that they didn’t pre-sell any units. As they are nearing completion (slated for November 2013), they’re just now opening their doors to prospective Kitsilano Condo Buyers. Why did they choose not to pre-sell the units? My guess is because the quality is so high and the style is so new to Kitsilano (and Vancouver) that they’ll garner a lot of interest and can command top dollar now that people will be able to see and feel the (almost) finished product.
I love the European style of these condos. It definitely adds some visual interest to the West 4th street-scape and give Kitsilano another unique type of Architecture.
There is an Open House this weekend, October 5 & 6th to view the display suite and get more information.
The Vermeer has only 13 units, 1 and 2 bedroom condos, spread out over 3 levels. Developed by Thomas Properties and designed by Formwerks Architecture (a highly touted firm in Vancouver), this is a concrete low rise building (that’s quite hard to find in Vancouver these days) with air conditioning, home automation (much of it through your smart phone), top of the line appliances and larger than average floor plans.
Prices start at $479,900 for 699 sqft, and then go up depending on size, patio, number of bedrooms and location in the building (which can make or break a view of the mountains). There are two penthouse units, both over 1600 sqft with 2 bedrooms and multiple outdoor areas.
Visit the Vermeer Sales Centre at 2035 West 4th Ave this weekend, open from 1-5pm Saturday and Sunday. Let us know if you’re interested – buying pre-sale condos from the developer is different than purchasing a unit from the registered owner. We’ll help navigate the contracts ensuring that you’re getting what you’re paying for.
