Along with helping clients and curious Buyers find a great home, I’ve been doing a lot of blogging for the site! I love to chat real estate, and Kitsilano is such a great place to work in thanks to the different types of real estate and the great places to grab lunch.
Kristi Holz, I actually have a long German last name but no one would ever be able to pronounce it, so I use the short form.
What makes you passionate about Real Estate?
Real Estate is all about where you live and how that affects your lifestyle, so it’s one of the most important decisions you can make. There are so many things you need to consider when buying a new home, and I like to make sure that my clients are educated about the process so their decision is based on emotion and logic. Besides, seeing different types of spaces can really open your eyes to what’s available, and I’ve always been such a fan of design, that the chance to design where and how you live is very exciting to me. I’m a big believer in great home design and sweat equity, and have quite a few clients who are putting in some effort to renovate their homes to their liking. It’s a lot of work, it can be stressful and it often takes longer than expected, but it’s very rewarding.
Why do you love Vancouver?
“You will live in a hill top and seaside home for life” – I once got that proclamation in a Fortune Cookie! I loved it so much I laminated it (you can laugh) and kept it in my wallet for years. It wasn’t until I moved to Vancouver (and lived in many of it’s unique neighbourhoods – the West End, Kits and Strathcona) that I realized that it came true! Vancouver is the home of great things and passionate people. It never gets old.
Favourite part of being a Real Estate Agent?
I like to get out there and see the space, and help my clients visualize what it can look like. Real Estate is a great mix of emotion and logic, so I get the best of both worlds as a Real Estate Agent – I can see these unique spaces and help my clients visualize what it could look like. The icing on the cake is negotiating on behalf of my clients to get them the best deal possible – it’s energizing.
Favourite part about working on a Real Estate Team?
We can support each other and learn from everyone’s experience, making us all better agents for it. It also lets us take vacations, and know that our clients are still taken care of
What’s your favourite hidden gem in Kitsilano?
I wouldn’t consider this a hidden gem in Kitsilano, but when was the last time you walked down some of the neighbourhood streets? There are so many very cool styles of architecture, and some great looking homes, along tree lined streets. Kits really is beautiful. In terms of restaurants, Juliet’s has a great brunch and Sejuiced is always good for a healthy bite to eat.
What’s your favourite not-so-hidden gem in Kitsilano?
The Naam continues to be a favourite of mine, but Fable, Aphrodite’s, and Kibune are all awesome. Playing tennis at Kits Beach, with those mountain and ocean views is also a great summer activity.
Favourite area of Kitsilano?
Some of those houses in Kits Point are just so unique and colourful, along with big trees, beach access and quiet streets – I would love to buy one if I ever had the opportunity. Otherwise Cornwall and Yew is top notch thanks to it’s location and great restaurants.
What’s one thing you would change about Vancouver or Kitsilano?
Simply, I want more patio spaces and longer hours to enjoy them so we can sit outside during our amazing summers.
Favourite Style of Design/Architecture?
West Coast modern for anything new, but I would love to be in a building that was Industrial, Classic or even Gothic, filled with modern furniture.
Favourite app on your phone?
Alarmed for reminders! I use this for everything.
Car or Bike?
Bike… in the summer. I’m a fair weather biker so I have a lot of respect for winter bikers. Otherwise, I’m singing along to the radio in my car.
Morning or Night person?
I’m a morning person, I like to start my days strong by getting things done, though I can focus easily at night.
Five Year Goals – personal or real estate?
In 5 years I want to have a few home reno projects under my belt. Properties in Kits are getting older, and some of them need some TLC. I’d love to take on that challenge and exercise some creativity.
Give me a call if you want to talk Real Estate, I’m always happy to help.
